Good times in training lead to great times in racing 🚀

Regardless of your age, experience or goals, we’re here to help you achieve your true athletic potential within the context of your life.

This is how we roll, Champ.

Fun.

Never one to take ourselves too seriously, we like to bring that lightheartedness and sense of play to the way we coach. Does this mean we don’t prescribe hard workouts which lead to sweat and tears? On the contrary. We are big believers in challenging our athletes – both physically and mentally – but we never want to lose sight of the enjoyment factor. Because if training and racing isn’t genuinely making you a happier person, what’s the point!?

Positive.

If you’re looking for a coach who’s going to scold you for not hitting a certain pace or power target in a workout, you might want to start searching elsewhere. We’re here to big up our athletes, not belittle them. Encourage instead of criticize. For us, framing everything we do in a positive and supportive light leads to better outcomes both for us and our athletes alike. Training the mind (through mindfulness) to overcome the grind also plays a big part in our coaching practice.

Balanced.

Training should fit around your life, not the other way around. Too often coaches prescribe unrealistic training schedules without little or no consideration to what’s going in their athletes’ lives. We want to be in-sync with an athlete’s life at home and at work to fully understand what makes them tick as a person before prescribing any type of workout. Our job is to get the best out of our athletes within the often chaotic nature of life.

About Your Coach

Ben Meaker is basically Mr. Nicely Done and a USA Triathlon Certified Level 1, Long Distance and Youth & Junior Coach with over a decade of experience in endurance sports and triathlon. An avid athlete himself, Ben has competed in a whole host of running and triathlon races. He's represented Great Britain – his home nation – several times at the ITU World Long Distance Champs and competed in several Ironman races along the way. Most recently, Ben suffered a devastating bike accident whilst out on a training ride which resulted in him now having movement limitations with both his hands and wrist. Despite this outcome, Ben was eager to get back into the sport he loves and in July 2019, he competed in Ironman Lake Placid and earned a coveted spot at the Ironman World Championships (which he couldn't attend as his son was born that very week!). Ben is still planning on competing in triathlon and other endurance events until the day he dies and wants to share that passion, experience and knowledge with anyone pursuing their own athletic goals.

What Our Athletes Are Saying

“With Nicely Done! I was able to build & enjoy the training routine as well as smoothly integrate it into my everyday life. With that came overall progress and nice results. Couldn’t be any happier of being under Coach Ben’s wings.”

— Dom, Germany

“Coach Ben is on it!  He listened to what I wanted and tailored his coaching to achieve just that - a killer 10k trail run.  I loved the cadence of workouts, but admittedly doubted he was pushing me hard enough.  Sure enough, race day came and I couldn't have been in better shape for it.  Despite being a lifelong runner, I learned so much from Ben and thoroughly enjoyed the cross-training.  After taking the summer off to focus on water sports, I'm looking forward to working with him again once I've determined my next athletic goal.”

— Jessica, USA

“I'm a demanding athlete with clear thoughts on my training strategy, and have found that Coach Ben is open to working with my ideas but not afraid to push back on things he think will not work. I also really appreciate his responsiveness when I had questions, and him proactively checking in after important training sessions. With his help I secured my second qualification to the Ironman 70.3 world championships.”

— Marc, Netherlands

“Choosing Ben as a coach is the best decision I've ever made. Even as a non-competitive athlete, his thoughtful (and flexible) programming helped improve my performance, kept me injury free and made racing a lot more fun. He generously shared his knowledge about training - I learned more than I ever imagined. And, he's just an incredible human, a truly positive and encouraging force that picked me up when I needed it and celebrated the wins when they happened. Thank you Ben!”

— Dar, USA
